Kettu, Raahe

In early 2010, the City of Raahe commissioned a study of possible wind power areas in Raahe. Based on this study and their own research, Puhuri Oy reserved the so-called Ketunperä and Piehinki Ylipää wind park areas. Wind measurements were carried out in the Ketunperä area with Sodar measuring equipment. Furthermore, the company studied the technical feasibility of the area for building a wind park.

After both areas were found suitable for wind power, a component master plan and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) processes were launched together with Raahe’s other southern wind park plans. In addition to Puhuri Oy’s projects, Raahe’s southern wind parks include Tuuliwatti Oy’s Sarvankangas, Haapajärvi and Rautionmäki.

The EIA report was completed at the end of 2012, and the statement was issued in spring 2013. Compared to the EIA report and program, the number of power plants decreased significantly upon transitioning to the zoning phase. At this stage, Puhuri Oy decided to withdraw from the Piehinki Ylipää wind park project and focus solely on developing the Ketunperä wind park.

The zoning plan and construction permits are legally binding, and the engineering of the project is currently in process.
